What type of events does FMP handle?
At FMP, we concentrate on events for corporations and other large organizations. These may be internal events, like annual sales meetings or town halls. Or they may be user conferences, product launches, educational events, press announcements or other public-facing events. Generally, the number of attendees at these events ranges from 200 to 20,000.
How best to work with FMP at a venue that promotes their own “in-house” AV providers?
Many event venues have contracts with “in-house” AV suppliers – which usually include hefty commissions for the venue and higher prices for the end customer. But customers have the right to select the vendor that’s the best value for their event. That’s why we advise engaging FMP as early as possible. If you like, we can coach your team on negotiating with the venue and provide guidance in adjusting the contract, even when labor unions are part of the equation. You’ll find that FMP can provide more comprehensive, reliable, and attentive services than most in-house providers. All at a better price.
Is FMP open to collaborate with other vendors on the same event?
This is never a problem. The FMP team is frequently supporting the same event as other vendors with whom we are always ready to coordinate and assist as needed. The same goes for working hand-in-glove with the venue management team. Communication is key in event planning and execution. In the end, it is all about helping to ensure the event goes as well as possible for our mutual client.
What does the FMP team consider to be their specialties?
We focus primarily on live event and broadcast video production. Is FMP also a rental house for projection equipment, audio systems, and video monitors for use by other technical teams?
To ensure our equipment stays in top condition and ready for use, FMP uses it only for projects under our direct supervision. We do not rent out our gear for other uses.
What is needed for FMP to provide a cost estimate for audio visual, video production and related services?
Typically, it’s best to set up a Zoom or Teams call to discuss your project with one or more of our executive level team members. Gather information about the event ahead of time. Include the schedule and location; number of breakout rooms per day and the expected average number of attendees per session; details about general sessions, including days, expected attendance, and as many specifics as possible on staging and AV requirements; expectations for video production and live streaming; details about the tradeshow floor if applicable; and whatever other relevant facts you can provide. Does FMP offer discounts?
FMP does offer discounts on our standard pricing – it’s part of how we customize our cost estimates once we understand the full scope of the project. The factors we consider regarding discounts include when and where the event will occur, the size of the event, FMP’s role or roles in the event, the technical needs for the event, and our overall business relationship with the customer.
With potential projects all over the U.S., how does FMP keep staff travel expenses manageable?
Travel expenses almost always come into play to bring FMP project management and our key technical leads onsite for an event. That said, our team prides itself on our network of experienced, reliable local technical crew and other laborers in regions throughout the U.S. (and beyond). By filling as many roles as possible with locally based personnel, we keep travel related costs affordable for our customers.
